Description
Friend, today will you consider this question. Have you found rest? Are you assured Heaven is your home? Can you know? To answer this, we must go to the Word of God.

Jesus said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

Maybe you have heard of Jesus but have not encountered the way of knowing Him as Lord and Saviour.

The Problem

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

We find in the Bible that sin entered the world through Adam.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

To sin means “miss the mark”. God being holy, gave us the law of Moses, also known as the Ten Commandments. A few include prohibitions on stealing, lying, using God's name inappropriately, idol worship and coveting. Are you guilty?

If you examine your heart and thought life, do you have any sins?

When the Bible says God is holy, it means He is separated from sin. The Bible warns the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and separation from God in hell fire (Revelation 20:15).

Many work to atone for sin and bridge this separation through religion, morality and self-effort. However, the Bible says salvation cannot be earned. The penalty for sin must be paid.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The way of salvation has been provided.

God's Solution

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

God proved His love for you in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. He was not a partaker of man's sinful bloodline but born of a virgin, sinless, holy and God in the flesh.

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)

Jesus came to proclaim the Gospel and to seek and save that which was lost.

The Gospel is that Christ became our substitute and took our punishment for sin. He was betrayed, crucified on a cross, shed His blood and died for sinners. On the third day He rose again, defeating death.

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Because Jesus is God's Son, His shed blood and death are powerful enough to pay for the sins of the world and satisfy God's wrath against sinners.

Your Response

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Repentance is a change of mind about sin so your direction will not continue to be the same.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31a)

“And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:39)

Believing is putting your faith in Jesus alone as Saviour, trusting He bore your sin debt on the cross.

“...behold now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2b)

There is no guarantee of tomorrow. Friend, why don't call on Jesus to save you? Will you receive Him as Saviour today?

If you chose to accept the payment made by Christ for your sin, then you simply need to bow your head and pray, trusting in faith what He did for you. Tell Jesus, in your own words, that you repent of your sins and that you no longer want to remain spiritually separated from God. Ask Him to forgive you and save you from death and eternal punishment. Tell Jesus you want to receive Him as Lord and Saviour and accept His gift of eternal life.

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (1 John 5:12-13)

If you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, as a new believer:

•Read your Bible daily.
•Talk to God in prayer.
•Find and attend a local Gospel-preaching, Bible-believing church.
•Share the Gospel with others.

All Scriptures taken from the King James, the Authorized version of the Bible.
